The default camera app on Android is not recording audio from the VOOK mic. What should I do?

Overview

The default Android camera app does not support external microphones.

Please use a third-party app such as 'Open Camera' (free on Play Store) instead:

Details / steps
  1. Download and open the Open Camera app.
  2. Go to Settings inside the app (not phone settings).
  3. Tap Video Settings.
  4. Tap Audio Source and select External Mic.

Now record — your VOOK mic audio will be captured correctly.

Note: Make sure OTG is enabled on your phone before starting.

  1. Check that the mic is not muted in the VOOK app.
  2. Confirm the recording app is using the external mic input.
  3. Test with another app or device to identify whether the issue is app-specific.
